When adding a new cycle menu, that's when it's determined how many weeks, days, and servings. But when you copy a cycle menu, you're stuck with the original cycle menu's parameters. It'd be helpful to be able to edit the parameters for the copied cycle menu so you don't have to create a new cycle menu and add the same recipes.
I'm in the process of building next year's menus so I decided to test a little. When I copy a cycle menu, I'm not prompted to define the cycle duration but I do have the ability to add or remove days. This effectively allows me to alter the cycle duration. For example, the original cycle was four weeks long (20 total days). I was able to add five more days which turned it into a five-week cycle. I also tested removing five days to make it a 3-week cycle--that works too. These are the same options one would have if creating a cycle from scratch and then deciding to alter the cycle duration.
It would be helpful to have the ability to copy and paste a cycle menu day when creating or editing a cycle menu. This feature would save time by allowing users to duplicate weeks—such as Week 1 and Week 4—especially when they are nearly identical, aside from minor differences in one or two menu items. Re-entering the same items manually can be time-consuming and inefficient.
This is an interesting insight. We're in year one of using eTrition but my plan was definitely to copy this year's cycle menu as a starting point for next year. My expectation was I'd be able to change parameters as needed. I'm curious why this ability would be restricted in the first place as it potentially negates the advantage of being able to copy the cycle.
thank you for your submission and feedback. This is a helpful request.
We can add an option on the copy to re-define those. We would probably do this right away vs. editing afterwards.
